Live near the Heath and been kept awake recently by a neighbour’s dog barking incessantly in the evenings? Listen carefully, because it may, in fact, be a deer!

‘They're turning Whiteston Pond into a car park. And you know it won’t be cheap, why can’t they just leave stuff alone?’ Thus did my taxi driver shatter my evening’s reverie as we passed Whitestone Pond the other night.  ‘Cost a fortune it has to put the foundations into that pond so cars won’t sink. It won’t be far short of a fiver an hour for parking I’ve heard.’

Thank you very much for inviting me to the Heath and Hampstead Society new members reception. Many apologies for being unable to email you sooner.
Unfortunately I cannot attend a gathering on 22/February, as I will not be in the UK. I have basically moved back to Japan since last November, I sometimes come back to London though.
For the last several years of being a student and working as a researcher, I really enjoyed living in Golders Green and visiting the Heath, the Hill Park and Hampstead village.
I love Hampstead and its suburb as there are beautiful greens and fresh air, opportunities you can feel close to nature, good theatres, cinema, museums, galleries, independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as the Hampstead village has a sense of community values and there are many of those who are aware of issues regarding Hampstead's today and future. I appreciate your society's significant role in maintaining and improving the above areas.
I would like to keep my membership and appreciate all the above Hampstead values when I am in London.
Many thanks again for inviting me for the reception and all your work in the society.
Best regards,
Mikako Nishimuko
