How we work

Hampstead High StreetFreezing on top of Parliament Hill during a Winter Inspection of the Heath. Sweltering inside the Town Hall on a Summer's evening. Trying to stay awake whilst slogging through a 350 page summary of the government's latest planning directive. Driving forward the work of the Heath and Hampstead Society are our committees.

All are entirely voluntary. Yet without the skills and dedication of those who serve on them the work of the Society would be impossible.

The General Committee meets six times a year and is ultimately responsible for the Society's affairs.

Original New End HospitalIn the late 1980s developers applied for permission to raze New End Hospital to the ground. Once again a fine Victorian building seemed doomed to destruction by Camden’s wholesale neglect of planning law.
